A selection of the questions we have answered in our data science projects in the energy sector:
How can grid loss during electricity transmission be predicted?
Combining different analysis methods for a reliable forecast of the next day's expected grid losses during the transmission of renewable energy. Creating a better planning basis for the more cost-effective purchase of electricity on the electricity exchange.
How can electricity price developments be forecast?
By identifying correlations between historical electricity price trends and news reports from the Thomson Reuters information service, the impact of future news on electricity prices can be predicted.
How can the expected electricity demand be forecast?
The energy transition is increasing the number of decentralized generation plants, and the volatility of the energy fed in is increasing. The data available through the smart meter rollout provides the basis for forecasting future electricity demand using data science.
How can maintenance processes be controlled more effectively?
By implementing a predictive maintenance approach, the data generated by the existing measurement technology provides information about the actual wear and tear and the remaining service life of components. This has enabled maintenance measures at external locations to be reduced to a minimum.
How can more suitable offers be developed for customers?
Linking all relevant customer information, such as their historical consumption data, allows these insights to be used to create attractive, customized offers. This also helped reduce customer churn.
How can a consistent data pipeline be built?
A multitude of data silos in distributed IT systems increases complexity and drastically reduces the amount of data actually available. By implementing high-performance ETL processes, these data silos could be broken down and the foundation laid for unlocking the existing data potential.
